Antichi Sapori in Tamarindo

At the risk of repeating what many have already said in other reviews, this gem is hidden in an unassuming strip mall and has amazing food and passionate owners. We return regularly and it never disappoints. The shrimp linguine is simple, straightforward, delicious and our go-to dish. We recommend making a reservation for an outdoor table for weekend dining during peak season. Pura Vida!

It’s a funny location in a strip mall but that’s how we almost knew it just had to be great. Run by a husband and wife. My boyfriend and I shared 2 starters and a seafood linguine as a main. Which was more than enough food for us 2. The food was very fresh and authentic. The reviews speak for themselves. Very charming place, highly recommend.

Giuseppe’s service and flavourful recomendations are excellent! My families first time to Antichi Sapori was wonderful. Their accommodation to allergies was especially appreciated and we would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for great Italian cuisine. 5/5 for us - and we will be back soon :)Giuseppe - were coming back this week (dec 6-14) :) see you one night for dinner !!

The best place ever!! I'm so happy that we went here for dinner on our one night in Tamarindo (we've been staying just North for a few weeks).The owner is so friendly and welcoming, and the food was super delicious. We got pizza and the house wine, which were both reasonably priced - we left with leftovers and super full bellies.I would recommend this restaurant to anyone! You won't be disappointed.

This was our second time coming to Antichi Sapori as it was our second time in Costa Rica and 3 years later nothing has changed except for the location. The quality of the food is fantastic and as someone who has celiac and must eat gluten free their pizzas were amazing!! My father is Italian and enjoys conversing with Guiseppe who is a lovely person and the owner along with his wife. The cherry on top is their crazy good cannoli’s and pannacotta’s!!! Mille Grazie!

Guiseppe's food was delicious. I used to live in Catania Sicily where he is from when I was a child and his food is authentic and delicious. The bruscettbrwas the best we have ever had. We had the pistachio gnocchi and the seafood pasta, both were delicious. The house wine was only $5 a glass with a generous pour. We don't normally go back to the same restaurant twice when traveling but I think we are going to go back. Loved it

After getting slightly bored with local food in Tamarindo we decided to visit an Italian restaurant for a change. Antichi Sapori was an excellent choice. After locating the restaurant at the back of a building complex we were immediately greeted by the owner. He provided fast service, was entertaining and very excited to serve us. The pizzas we ordered were delicious and arrived quickly. After the meal the owner offered us a glass of Sicilian wine, going in depth about the area it came from, and a great cake to top off the meal. I can definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for something authentically Italian in Tamarindo!

This was the best meal we had in tamarindo! The food was unbelievably delicious, the service was outstanding, and the owner was the most friendly, kind man. You could tell he loved what he does bc his food was nothing short of perfection. It’s CASH ONLY but well worth it!

A little spot. It doesn't look like much but the owner is so nice and I believe his wife does the cooking. They are from Sicily so this is authentic home cooking out of Sicilia. So good and so nice. Will return.

Wooow! This was amazing food and excellent service. If you are searching for authentic Italian food you HAVE TO try this place. Beside the incredibly delicious food (we had pasta with sea food) and quality wine, you will also enjoy excellent service provided by the owner.

Probably had the best seafood pasta ever!! It was absolutely delicious! We were served by one of the owners and he provided us with incredible caring service. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. We'll be back to try their pizza b4 we leave Tamarindo

Delicious authentic Italian food in a nice atmosphere (outdoor seating). We called before to make a reservation and that seemed to have been a good idea, all tables were occupied. The owner of the restaurant was very friendly and welcoming. We can fully recommend this restaurant, haven't had such good Italian food in a very long time .

We saw the rave reviews online and had to try this place. This was one of our favourite meals in our 1 week stay in Costa Rica. Warm hospitality, excellent service, delicious seafood linguine we both ordered and ate outside. The seafood was very fresh and our host added "bottarga" he brought back from Sicily which made the meal even more enjoyable. House wine, homemade bread and a special cannoli dessert made for an incredible evening. $70USD for both meals, drinks, bread, and dessert. Will definitely be back during our stay.

I really didn't expect my favorite meal in Costa Rica to be Italian food in Tamarindo but I was blown away by the quality of this restaurant. The owner seems incredibly dedicated to making the finest food and it shows. All the pastas and breads are home made and every sauce is seasoned to perfection. The owner is attentive and incredibly endearing. The entirety of the seating is outdoors in a small plaza next to the strip mall. I probably could have eaten here every night I was in Tamarindo and been very happy.

I rarely write reviews but felt it was an absolute must after my exceptional experience at Antichi Sapori! I went there for dinner with 4 friends during our vacation in Costa Rica and had the best meal of my whole trip. We were greeted by the incredibly polite, courteous, and professional owner. He waited on us and made sure to tend to all our needs. Being from Italy, he was incredibly passionate about his offerings and foods. I ordered the prosciutto bruschetta as an appetizer and devoured it. I then had a traditional Italian pasta as my main, which included mozzarella, tomatoes, and basil. It was one of the best pasta dishes I have ever had. I cannot say enough positive things about this restaurant and highly recommend it to anyone looking for an Italian eatery in Tamarindo!!

I really can't recommend this place enough. The food was absolutely terrific and the service cannot be beat.

Superb Italian cuisine literally in a nook. When the driver drops you off downtown adjacent to the tall building on your right Plaza Tamarindo, walk along the walk way toward the right side of the building until you arrive at A-10. Everything was delish and made fresh on site. This spot is run by a husband and wife and they are so hospitable and warm. The gnocchi is a must. All foods reasonably priced.

Wow. So happy to have tried this Italian place. Have to say, one of the best Italian foods I’ve tried. I like the seafood linguine WAYYY better than the one I tried over at La Patagonia. The place is small so calling for a reservation is probably the best. But I come for the food and this place hits the mark for me.

Absolutely amazing food and service! We ordered from the daily specials: the pistachio gnocchi and shrimp fettuccini, and both were some of the best pasta dishes I’ve ever had. The owner was incredibly kind and accommodating, and even gave us some bruschetta and lemonchello on the house! Wish we were staying in Tamarindo longer so we could keep coming back!

Pricy, like everything else in Tamarindo, but the food is excellent and authentic.

Eating at Antichi Sapori is an EXPERIENCE. Visiting Tamarindo during the high season made the streets and restaurants a bit more crowded than I’m used to, so finding this hidden gem with no wait, amazing service, and an intimate atmosphere was incredible. Outside, with only a few tables, surrounded by lush plants, it’s the perfect place for a romantic date. We got a pizza which we could do half San Danielle and Milani, both halves were equally fantastic and shareable. Cannolis for dessert, followed by limoncellos on the house, Giuseppe made our date night unforgettable.

My girlfriend had an excellent gluten free pizza and I had amazing pasta. Atmosphere is quite, simple and is complimented by stories from the Italian owner. Would HIGHLY recommend.
